Cleveland — The Tigers made a flurry of roster moves before the game Friday.

Added to the roster was reliever Kenley Jansen, who was activated off the injured list. Also, the contract of 32-year-old right-handed reliever Jacob Waguespack was selected from Triple-A Toledo.

The Tigers acquired Waguespack from the Brewers on Wednesday for cash or a player to be named later.

They join 29-year-old outfielder James Outman, whom the Tigers claimed off waivers from the Twins on Thursday.

To make room for Outman on the 40-man roster, shortstop Zack Short was designated for assignment.

The Tigers also optioned right-handed relievers Brenan Hanifee and Beau Brieske back to Triple-A Toledo.

Tigers manager AJ Hinch also announced that right-hander Casey Mize will be activated off the injured list Sunday and start the third game of this series against the Guardians.

That will require another corresponding move off the active roster, to be announced before the game Saturday.

This story will be updated.

Tigers at Guardians

First pitch: 4:10 p.m. Saturday, Progressive Field, Cleveland

SCOUTING REPORT

LHP Tarik Skubal (3-2, 2.70), Tigers: What a welcome sight this will be. The reigning, two-time Cy Young winner back on the mound for the first time since April 29. He had a loose body removed from his elbow on May 6 and remarkably he had worked his way back in less than six weeks.

LHP Joey Cantillo (4-3, 4.57), Guardians: Things have gone awry since he blanked the Tigers on three hits over 5.2 innings at Comerica Park on May 21. In his last three starts he’s been tagged with 15 runs in 11 innings, with five home runs and nine walks. Against the Rangers last time out, the velocity on his four-seamer was down a tick (from 91 to 90). That pitch and his cutter yielded a lot of hard contact.
