Former Tennessee softball pitcher Karlyn Pickens is in her first season with Carolina in the Athletes Unlimited Softball League. The former Lady Vol broke two metal bats in her last two AUSL pitching appearances.

On Wednesday against Chicago, designated player and right fielder Taryn Kern broke her bat in a, 7-6, win at Smith Family Stadium in Durham, North Carolina. Pickens started and pitched three innings for the Blaze. She recorded three strikeouts in the loss.

The first bat that was broken against Pickens was on July 11 at Dell Diamond in Round Rock, Texas. Texas shortstop Leighann Goode broke her bat in a, 4-3, win against Carolina. Pickens totaled eight strikeouts in the contest.

Pickens was the No. 1 overall selection in the 2026 AUSL college draft on May 4. She was a three-time All-American and a two-time SEC Pitcher of the Year from 2024-25 at Tennessee.

Pickens was named 2025 Female Athlete of the Year by Vols Wire.
