Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Justin Wrobleski dominated the St. Louis Cardinals in his start on Sunday, throwing ???? scoreless innings.
In typical Wrobleski fashion, he did give up six hits and walked a batter with no strikeouts, but he left the mound with the Dodgers having a 3-0 lead and World Series hero Will Klein taking over.

Wrobleski, with his 1.25 ERA, is qualified again for league-wide statistical leads, meaning he’s the best in the National League regarding earned runs allowed.
He’s a full half a run ahead of Clay Holmes of the New York Mets and his 1.75 ERA.
Wrobleski doesn’t allow runs, but he also doesn’t dominate statistically
Wrobleski’s success is a bit of a statistical oddity.
Baseball Savant has him in the top 4% or better in value:
- Pitching Run Value – 10 (98th percentile)
- Fastball Run Value – 6 (95th percentile)
- Breaking Run Value – 4 (94th percentile)
Otherwise, though, his statistics are largely underwhelming.
He’s severely lacking in categories like whiff percentage (13.2%, worse than 99% of pitchers) and strikeout percentage (12.6%, only in the 5th percentile), but he’s also only walking 7.6% of batters, which is better than two-thirds of pitchers.
Despite all of that, though, he is producing on the mound, making him one of the Dodgers’ surprise stars through the season thus far.
As detailed by Jack Harris of the California Post, that kind of production is historic.
“He is only the second pitcher since 2017 to go six scoreless with no Ks (José Quintana in 2024), and the first Dodgers pitcher to do so since Mike Morgan in 1991,” Harris wrote on social media.
What will happen to Justin Wrobleski once Blake Snell returns?
Wrobleski appears to have solidified his place in the starting rotation, which is important, as someone will soon be moved out to make room for the return of Blake Snell.
With Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Shohei Ohtani and Tyler Glasnow likely locks, that means either Emmet Sheehan or Roki Sasaki could be in danger of losing his spot.
Sasaki seems closer to putting it together this season, so for Sheehan, danger lurks.
