Joshua Van's first UFC flyweight title defense has been postponed.

Van's scheduled UFC 327 matchup with Tatsuro Taira next Saturday has been shifted to UFC 328 on May 9 at Prudential Center in Newark N.J. (Paramount+), the promotion announced Saturday.

A minor injury to Van was the reason for the change in date, according to the announcement on Saturday's UFC Fight Night 272 broadcast.

Van (16-2 MMA, 9-1 UFC) won the UFC flyweight title by an unceremonious injury TKO against Pantoja at UFC 323 in December. The win not only crowned Van as the first Myanmar-born champion in promotion history, but it also extended his winning streak to six.

Taira (18-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC), who holds the No. 5 spot in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie flyweight rankings, will get his first crack at the title after winning back-to-back fights. In October 2024, he lost the only fight of his career by split decision to former title challenger Brandon Royval. However, he bounced back with a pair of second-round stoppages of Hyun Sung Park and former champion Brandon Moreno.

The latest UFC 328 lineup now includes:

  • Champ Khamzat Chimaev vs. Sean Strickland – for middleweight title
  • Champ Joshua Van vs. Tatsuro Taira – for flyweight title
  • Waldo Cortes-Acosta vs. Alexander Volkov
  • Sean Brady vs. Joaquin Buckley
  • King Green vs. Jeremy Stephens
  • Jan Blachowicz vs. Bogdan Guskov
  • Ateba Gautier vs. Ozzy Diaz
  • Joel Alvarez vs. Yaroslav Amosov
  • Roman Kopylov vs. Marco Tulio
  • Clayton Carpenter vs. Jose Ochoa
  • Djorden Santos vs. Baisangur Susurkaev
  • William Gomis vs. Pat Sabatini
