For Christian Parker, the expectations are through the roof. Not since Wade Philips came aboard in 2007 has there been such buzz about a new defensive coordinator and his scheme. Parker brings the Dallas Cowboys a Vic Fangio-esque system that uses complex coverages, odd man fronts, and versatile personnel groups. He disguises his defense pre-snap and post-snap, demanding intelligence and discipline from his players in the process.
The new look defense doesn’t end with the lead architect but trickles down throughout the ranks. Joining Parker in both excitement levels as well as expectations, is the Cowboys' new pass rush specialist consultant, BT Jordan. Jordan, one of the most respected pass-rushing gurus in the sport, comes to Dallas with an impressive track record. After rebooting the pass rush at Michigan State and then the Seattle Seahawks the year after, he built the Denver Bronco’s into the NFL’s sack leaders in 2025.
Jordan has been steadily working with some of the NFL’s best defensive linemen through his clinic in much the same way Duke Manyweather works with offensive lineman. With the Cowboys, he’ll have his work cut out for him because Dallas is largely mishmash of unproven entities.
After finishing in the NFL’s bottom 10 in sacks last season, Jordan will be tasked with getting the Cowboys up to respectable levels in 2026. With edge rushers such as Donovan Ezeieruaku, Rashan Gary, Malichi Lawrence, James Houston and Sam Williams, it won’t be easy. Only Gary is an established player in the NFL with the others not much more than pure potential.
Williams’ personal analysis probably applies to the entire team. Finishing sacks was a massive problem for Dallas last season. As hard as it is to believe, despite finishing near the bottom of the NFL in sacks, the Cowboys led the NFL in pressure rate. Their inability to finish almost defied odds.
Parker is responsible for the whole defensive unit, but he comes to Dallas as a coverage expert with an emphasis on the secondary. He’s going to need Jordan to work his magic on the pass rusher for everything to come together.

“I think I can be better at pass rushing,” Williams said of his game. “I think I can change up some of my game, change up some of my footwork. Having BT Jordan here is a blessing for sure. He’s one of the best in the business at perfecting pass rush. I know I definitely need that. Just to be better at pushing the pocket, pass rush and get the quarterback on the ground is the thing I think I can take a better step at this year.”
