Jim Harbaugh loves his quarterback, and his last comment on Justin Herbert might raise a few eyebrows. While joining the Rich Eisen show, Harbaugh discussed how the additions of running back Omarion Hampton and Tre Harris can help the Chargers' franchise quarterback reach his full potential.

"I just woke up the other day and said, I got to get Justin Herbert to the Hall of Fame," Harbaugh said to Eisen. "That would mean winning a couple of Super Bowls. A lot of people would benefit. So that's a worthy goal, and I think it's necessary that we get him surrounded by as many different football players at his level as possible."

Winning a Super Bowl or two is a worthy goal; the Hall of Fame honors would be secondary based on everything that we know about Herbert. He is as selfless as they come, but Harbaugh is right about the talent around him. Adding Hampton and Harris could be game changers for this franchise, looking to catch and surpass the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West.

Last year was the most productive of Herbert's since joining the NFL in the 2020 season, but it feels like his most efficient. The former Oregon quarterback completed 65.9% of his passes with 3,870 yards and 23 touchdowns to just three interceptions. Hampton and Harris could help elevate this offense that finished No. 11 in points per game but just No. 20 in total yards last year.
