Jeremy Doku has described the birth of his son as “one of the greatest blessings” as he prepares to return to the Belgium team at the World Cup.
Belgium confirmed on Monday that the Manchester City winger had travelled to be with his wife for the birth of their son, Praise, and will return to the team ahead of their next fixture against New Zealand.
In a post on his Instagram story on Tuesday, Doku expressed his gratitude for well-wishes as he rejoins the team, who are currently third in Group G.
He said: “Thank you to everyone for the love, prayers and kind messages over the past few days. Shireen and Praise are doing great and my heart is full of gratitude. Welcoming my son into the world is one of the greatest blessings God has ever given me.
“Thank you to the team for the support, now it’s time to get back to football and represent my country on the biggest stage.”
