I have my fair share of questions about the Philadelphia Eagles at the moment, but I also don't think it's fair to question much of this roster. Ultimately, while I need the Eagles’ offense to come out and play the type of football we all know it can, I don't want to say this is some horrible offensive team with no talent. From top to bottom, the Eagles are really good.
Up front, they have a great offensive line; the wide receiver position is very talented even after moving on from A.J. Brown; Saquon Barkley is one of the best running backs the NFL has ever seen, and Jalen Hurts is still an average-to-above-average quarterback, depending on how people view him.
To me, this is a really good football team, and it's more so about the Eagles just coming out and doing what's needed on that side of the football. At the same time, I can understand where some of the questions are coming from after last year.
They did not look good on the offensive side of things, which is why former Eagles star Jason Kelce had some promising words to say about what everything might look like next year.
"It's going to be a little bit of how does this system best fit the Philadelphia Eagles and their personnel, and how does Jalen and this offense run this new system? I'm very excited to see it. I've been a big fan of what this looks like. It really marries up well with the run and the pass, all the motions. It's hard to get a beat on it. Obviously, Mannion is very experienced in it," Kelce said, per Yahoo.
After moving on from offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, a move that seemed to make way too much sense for the Eagles a year ago, Philadelphia decided to bring in Sean Mannion. Mannion, who has recently been praised for his offensive mind, will be tasked with putting together a much better offense than we saw a year ago. I have a lot of faith that he'll be able to do just that, but he needs to show up before we really say much of anything.
