BLACKSBURG, Va. (WJHL) — The Virginia Tech Hokies opened fall football practice this week under new head coach James Franklin, eager to bounce back from a 3-9 season in 2025.
Energy was high on the field, though the team recognizes how much work remains before the season begins in a month.
Franklin expressed satisfaction with the opening session, highlighting the balance between offense, defense, and special teams. He emphasized that success this year depends on playing complementary football across all three phases.
Virginia Tech opens its season at home against VMI on Saturday, September 5 at Lane Stadium.
