Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala was happy to play a key role in helping Germany take down Curaçao in his team’s World Cup opener.

The youngster could see some great improvements in the team.

“We worked well together as a team. A 1-1 equalizer like the one against Curaçao can throw a team off their game and make them feel insecure. We’ve had games like that in the past, but against Curaçao we stuck to our game plan, did our jobs as we had planned, and earned a good start to the tournament. But now we need to immediately focus on our next match against Ivory Coast,” Musiala told Bild’s Christian Falk and Julian Agardi (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).

When asked if his role might change against the strong attack of Ivory Coast, Musiala did not think it would be that much different, aside of having to be a little more focused defensively.

“I think my overall role in our game will remain similar. The difference is that Ivory Coast have a stronger attack, so I’ll have to work even harder defensively and put in a lot of energy. But I’m enjoying it more and more these days: winning the ball back is really fun. Up front, we have to take our chances when we get them. If we continue playing like we did against Curaçao, we should create enough chances,” said Musiala.
