Jalen Williams Drops Hilarious 3-Word Message As UFC Broadcast Mistakes Shakur Stevenson For Thunder Star

During UFC 329 on Saturday night, the broadcast crew made a crucial mistake, misidentifying world champion boxer Shakur Stevenson as Oklahoma City Thunder star Jalen Williams.

As a result, the All-Star guard posted a three-word message on social media, revealing how he truly felt about the mix-up.

Williams joked about the mix-up in his Instagram story, writing, “ehhh close enough…” over a photo of the UFC jumbotron showing Stevenson and a graphic that read, “Jalen Williams, Oklahoma City Thunder Guard, 2025 NBA Champion.”

Williams seemed to have no issue with the situation, but UFC CEO Dana White certainly did. During the post-fight interview, White made it clear that he was frustrated with what had occurred.

“I just paid Shakur Stevenson a [expletive] of money. And for some reason, we can’t figure this celebrity [expletive] out. They put him up as a [expletive] OKC NBA player. Are you [expletive] kidding me? It’s absolutely crazy,” White exclaimed.

“We are the absolute worst to ever do the celebrity thing. When we put celebrities up, we are the worst. I just had this debate in the back with my guys while I was screaming at everybody back there, and they said ‘No, soccer’s worse. Soccer shows the people, and they don’t put up any graphics.'”

“Oh no, we put up [expletive] graphics and put the wrong guy’s name on it. We win, we’re the worst, ever to [expletive] do it.”

It’s not uncommon for a broadcast team to have a graphics error, but given how the Main Event unfolded, this was likely the tipping point for White. Notably, UFC star Conor McGregor, who returned to fighting for the first time since 2021, seriously injured his leg on his first attempted strike, bringing an end to the match after just 60 seconds.

On a separate note, Williams dealt with injuries of his own throughout the majority of the regular season and playoffs. He was especially missed in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals against the Spurs, though allowing him to recover from the injury appeared to be the right decision.

Williams should enter the 2026-27 campaign fully healthy and ready to help the Thunder return to contention. He’s averaged 17 or more points in each of the last three seasons, and could see another leap heading into year five.

As for White and the UFC, don’t expect a similar broadcast mistake to be made in the near future.
