If the Oklahoma City Thunder plan on punching their ticket to the 2026 NBA Finals, they'll need to do so short-handed. Which shouldn't be new territory for this squad. The reigning NBA champions have stayed atop the standings all year despite juggling injuries.

The Thunder could be without two of their three best scorers and ball-handlers in Thursday's Game 6. Jalen Williams remains questionable with hamstring strain injury management. Ajay Mitchell has already been ruled out with a soleus strain.

As dire as their health situation is, the fact is that the Thunder have been without Williams and Mitchell for most of the 2026 Western Conference Finals. Williams only played Game 1 before he sustained the injury in Game 2. Mitchell played the first two games before he sustained his injury in Game 3.

Despite all that, the Thunder hold a 3-2 series lead. They picked up a 127-114 Game 5 win over the Spurs. You can thank Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren for that as they played on par to their All-NBA forms for the first time this series. Plus others stepped up in Alex Caruso, Jared McCain and Isaiah Hartenstein.

Of the two, Williams feels closer to returning. He's been questionable for three consecutive games. He's gone through pregame warmups in Games 3, 4 and 5 before eventually being ruled out. Expect the Thunder to decide on his availability closer to tipoff.
