The Jacksonville Jaguars announced that the team has officially signed rookie tight end Nate Boerkircher.

All 10 members of the Jaguars' 2026 NFL draft class are now under contract.

"What's up, Jags nation? Nate Boerkircher here," he said. "Just signed. Ready to get to work. Duuuval!"

The Jaguars selected Boerkircher in the second round out of Texas A&M. That pick has been heavily criticized by draft analysts, with many viewing 56th overall as too soon to take Boerkircher.

But as head coach Liam Coen said, each pick is a reflection of the Jaguars' consensus board, and no one else's.

"It's about our consensus," Coen said during rookie minicamp. "Character matters. Personal and football character matters and the mental, the learning, how much they can take in a short period of time to get on the grass and be able to play. I wouldn't say either of our offensive and defensive systems are "easy," and so we do value players that can do different things and can mentally play the game fast."

What the Jaguars see in Boerkircher is a very good blocking tight end who will allow Coen to utilize heavier personnel more often to combat today's NFL defenses by creating mismatches.

And although Boerkircher wasn't often utilized in the passing game in college, the Jaguars believe he has the upside to impact that phase of the game as well.
