LSU football's wide receiver room was rebuilt from scratch this offseason. Only one wideout from LSU's 2025 WR group is back: Phillip Wright, who caught a single pass. With Brian Kelly out and Lane Kiffin taking over as head coach, the personnel was overhauled.
LSU turned to the transfer portal, signing a handful of talented pass catchers. A few wideouts need to step up if LSU's offense is to live up to expectations. One name worth keeping an eye on is Hawai'i transfer Jackson Harris.
Harris has earned rave reviews since arriving in Baton Rouge. He showed out with a three-touchdown scrimmage in April and Phil Steele listed Harris as a potential All-SEC wide receiver in Steele's College Football Preview.
Wide receiver is a position where coaches want to see proven production before taking a pass-catcher from the portal. Harris passes that test after racking up 963 yards with Hawai'i in 2025. Harris' 2.79 yards per route run ranked No. 3 in the Mountain West, and his 19.7 yards per catch was among the top marks in CFB among receivers given his target volume.
Kiffin offenses typically don't have a single alpha wide receiver -- the targets are shared and it's a committee approach. LSU doesn't need Harris to be Malik Nabers or Ja'Marr Chase. But Harris appears on track to be a consistent producer in this LSU attack.
Harris has All-SEC upside in 2026. There aren't many players on LSU's offense with Harris' track record. Yes, his 2025 stats were against Mountain West competition, but the efficiency numbers are usually a sign that a player is capable of making a jump. Plus, ESPN viewed Harris as a four-star recruit coming out of high school.
