The Memphis Grizzlies' 2024-25 season ended in disappointment, as the Oklahoma City Thunder swept them in the first round of the playoffs. The Grizzlies were completely overwhelmed in the first two games of the series, losing by a combined 70 points, but looked set to win Game 3 before disaster struck.

The Grizzlies were leading 67-40 in the second quarter when Lu Dort undercut Ja Morant on a dunk attempt. That knocked Morant out of the game, and the Grizzlies fell apart without him. The Thunder would go on to win 114-108 to take a 3-0 lead, which all but ended the series.

Morant was later diagnosed with a hip contusion and would miss Game 4 as well. The Grizzlies battled hard without their superstar guard, but went down 117-115. Morant held his exit interview on Sunday, and he made some bold statements in it. The two-time All-Star claimed the series would be tied at 2-2 right now if he hadn't gotten injured, and that confidence came from his belief that he had figured out the Thunder.

"I had them figured out," Morant said, via Damichael Cole.

Ja Morant paused because he wanted to be careful with his words, but he clearly had more to say when asked about how the OKC series turned out.

“I had them figured out.”

Added that he believes the series would be tied 2-2 headed back to OKC if he didn’t get hurt.

We'll never know for sure what would have happened. Morant finished with averages of 18.3 points, 2.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.7 blocks per game against the Thunder in the series.
