On Thursday, thousands of jubilant New York Knicks fans will flood the streets to celebrate the team winning a 2026 NBA title. It will be one of the happiest days in Big Apple history... unless he shows up.

He, of course, means legendary reptilian nuclear beast from the sea and noted Knicks fan, Godzilla.

Thursday is the absolutely perfect day for Godzilla to attack New York. Think about it! All those New Yorkers, celebrating in their Knicks gear as a parade full of New York NBA legends rolling down the street. Imagine the quiet that takes over as the loud booms of Godzilla's footsteps reverberate throughout the city.

Roland Emmerich would spontaneously combust into a thousand pieces as to how cinematic it would be. You can hear the roar of that infernal monster echoing across the city as countless New Yorkers look on in fear. Ben Stiller slowly lowers his iPhone he's using for his Knicks documentary and looks up at the impending Godzilla doom.

We know that this is going to be a wonderful parade on Thursday, but what other monster could invade New York? The Cloverfield monster is a Knicks fan and celebrating the parade with Michael Bloomberg; goodness knows King Kong is never going back to New York after what happened last time. The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man is busy playing basketball in China. Mechagodzilla is in Paris with Victor Wembanyama. It has to be Godzilla on Thursday.

Mike Breen delivering a quadruple "Bang!" as Godzilla hurls the Statue of Liberty's head toward an unsuspecting crowd full of Knicks fans, scattering like ants into the subway system as ancient terror reigns from the sky? Now, that's exciting. Plus, Godzilla could get a quick selfie with Jalen Brunson. Game recognizes game, of course.

If you're at the parade, you know in your heart you want to witness the most legendary Kaiju in history crash the festivities and cause a ruckus. You know it's the perfect way for this special moment in Knicks history to end. The Big Apple is the perfect place for monsters to attack, and no one deserves it more than our favorite big lizard. Godzilla stuck around through so much bad Knicks basketball; he deserves to soak in this NBA championship, too.

Why not Mothra?

Mothra is clearly a fan of the Utah Jazz; she's just waiting to see if the team does with the No. 2 pick. If you ask her, she's hoping AJ Dybantsa sticks around for the pick, but she's also understand trading out for a major package.
