The Cleveland Cavaliers lost in humiliating fashion on Monday night in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
The team got completely swept by the New York Knicks, looking positively dejected during Monday night's series-closing home loss. Does that mean coach Kenny Atkinson is on the hot seat?
Not really, no. Despite how dispiriting the Eastern Conference Finals were for Cleveland, Atkinson has still proven himself to be an excellent head coach. His two seasons with the Cavs have been great, and he's most likely going to get at least one more season, if not more, to right the ship and get Cleveland to the NBA Finals if he can.
One bad playoff series won't cost Atkinson his job. He won 64 regular season games and made the conference semifinals last season and won 52 regular season games and made the conference finals this season. That's good enough to leave his seat fairly cool with the franchise, even if spirits aren't so high right now in the Land.
The hot takes will surely swirl about on Tuesday over Atkinson's job security, but taking a few steps back shows that Atkinson isn't in any real danger of losing his job. He's safe for now unless something absolutely wild happens.
If he does, we do wonder if the franchise goes after someone with ties to LeBron James in an attempt to win him over to one last season in Cleveland before he retires. However, we're fully expecting Atkinson back.

What if he does get fired?
