U.S. Olympian curling gold medalist John Shuster is the only U.S. curler to have competed at five Olympic Games.
Shuster, 43, is known as the "King of Curling" but he won't be making it a sixth Olympic Games experience in Milano Cortina, Italy.
The Minnesota-native came up short during the U.S. Olympic trials in November 2025, as his team took a loss to Team Casper, led by the 24-year-old Danny "Cardiac" Casper.
Instead, Shuster will be in the booth calling the Olympic event for the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Games, joining NBC's coverage in Stamford, Connecticut, according to Sportico. Shuster is expected to call games for Olympic Curling matches, as well as appearances on the network's Olympic show, "Gold Zone."
Shuster will use his playing experience to enhance the broadcast and help viewers understand the intricacies of curling.

Shuster, also know as "Shoostie", first picked up curling as a sport when he was 12-years-old, according to Team USA. His dad, Tom, had a Thursday night league that he'd play in and Shuster, a sponge himself at that age, started partaking after hanging around enough.
Whether competing in men's curling or mixed doubles, Shuster is prone to play the skip position.
Shuster went on to become a 10-time national champion in men's curling. He is the only American curler to have won multiple Olympic medals.
He first debuted at the 2006 Winter Games in Turin, Italy, where he was awarded a bronze medal in curling. Shuster won a gold medal at the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics in South Korea.
Shuster now lives in Wisconsin with his wife and mixed doubles coach, Sara.
