Alabama will be without Aden Holloway for the Sweet 16 matchup on Friday with Michigan. The Crimson Tide's second-leading scorer reportedly did not travel with the team, head coach Nate Oats told CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein.

This star guard was sidelined at the start for the NCAA Tournament following his arrest early last week on marijuana charges. There was no real indication of Holloway's status, but it's becoming increasingly clear Oats and the program are prepared to be without him for the remainder of the season.

Holloway averages 16.8 points per game in his second year with the Tide.

According to multiple reports, Holloway is facing two charges including first-degree possession of marijuana. Police found 2.1 pounds of weed in his Tuscaloosa apartment. It's one ounce less than what would be considered drug trafficking in the state.

"The University is aware of the allegations and is working to gather more information. The student has been removed from campus pending further investigation by the UA Office of Student Conduct," Alabama said in a statement at the time of Holloway's arrest.

Alabama goes into the Sweet 16 matchup with Michigan looking to stay alive in the tourney. The Tide and Wolverines tip-off in Chicago on Friday (7:35 p.m. ET, TV: TBS).
