Iraola to leave Bournemouth in the summer

Andoni Iraola has informed Bournemouth that he will leave the club at the end of the season after a three year stay as head coach.

The Spaniard, brought in to replace current Strasbourg manager Gary O’Neil in 2023, achieved their join-thighest finish of ninth in the Premier League table last season, with the south coast club now sat 11th after 12 matches without defeat and unbeaten in 2026.

In doing so, the 43-year-old also accumulated the club’s record haul of 56 points in a league season and joins the likes of Newcastle boss Eddie Howe in departing as one of the club’s most successful coaches in recent history.

His Cherries began the season with an impressive two defeats in the opening 10 games of the 2025/26 campaign and were briefly in the top four, but tailed off significantly over November and the festive period – failing to pick up a win for 11 top flight games.

Iraola said: “It has been an honour to manage AFC Bournemouth and I am proud of what we have achieved together. I feel this is the right moment to step away, but I will always carry fantastic memories of this club.

“As for the fans, you have continued to show your fantastic support to myself and the team, and for that I will always be grateful.”

An official statement on the club’s website read: “AFC Bournemouth can confirm that Head Coach, Andoni Iraola, will leave the club at the conclusion of the 2025/26 season, bringing an end to his successful three-year tenure on the south coast.

“Iraole has played a pivotal role in establishing the club’s identity in the Premier League, earning widespread recognition for his progressive style of play and commitment to developing both emerging and established talent.”

Fitness coach Pablo de la Torre will follow Iraola out of the club when his and Iraola’s contracts expire in the summer.
