Iowa State looks to maintain its perfect midweek record as it prepares to host UNI at the Cyclone Softball Complex for their second encounter of the season. The Cyclones previously defeated the Panthers 5-3 earlier this year in Cedar Falls. Entering this game, Iowa State is focused on rebounding from a weekend sweep by No. 2 Texas Tech, while the Panthers bring momentum after a 2-1 series victory over Illinois State.

The Cyclones feature a deep and balanced offensive lineup, with seven players batting over .300. Waukee Northwest alumna Reagan Bartholomew is a standout performer, leading the team with a .444 batting average and eight home runs. She is supported by Jessie Clemons, who leads the team with 15 doubles, and Tatum Johnson, who has recorded a team-high 32 RBI.

Defensively, Lauren Schurman leads the pitching staff with a 3.59 ERA and 47 strikeouts over 82 innings. As a team, Iowa State holds a .322 batting average and has produced 220 runs this season.

UNI arrives with a highly productive offense led by North Linn HS alumna Skylar Benesh and Bondurant-Farrar HS alumna Kate Lappe, both of whom are batting above .440. Lappe provides significant power with a team-high 14 home runs and 35 RBI, while Benesh leads the Panthers in hits and runs.

The Panthers’ primary pitcher, Anna Wischnowski, has thrown 69 innings and is holding opponents to a .275 batting average. Statistically, UNI is neck-and-neck with the Cyclones, boasting a .329 team batting average and 239 total runs.

Historically, Iowa State holds the advantage in this series with an all-time record of 49-41-1. The Cyclones have been particularly dominant recently, winning five consecutive games against the Panthers. Additionally, Iowa State has been successful on its home grounds, winning four of the last five meetings played in Ames.
