I love Spike Lee, but does he really deserve a Knicks championship ring?

Look: Spike Lee has seen it all as a New York Knicks fan. The highs, all of the lows... heck, he's been heckled by players on the court (see: Miller, Reggie). He's as much a part of the culture of the team as any fan -- I'd bet if you asked Timothee Chalamet and Ben Stiller who the biggest celebrity fan is, they'd point to the iconic director.

But... does that mean he should get a championship ring for all that? Do all the dollars he's spent on courtside tickets over the decades add up to getting a ring?

I'm asking because this is a thing that's come up on social media the last few days. And as the biggest Knicks fan on our site, I have to be the arbiter here.

Does Spike Lee deserve a Knicks ring?​

Here's the definitive answer: No, he does not. He is awesome, he is the most loyal, he has been through the ringer with the rest of us Knicks fans. But die-hards don't deserve rings. He gets a lifetime of happiness that he got to see this win, along with the rest of us. And I'd bet that he's more than happy with that and not with a ring that he didn't play for.
