At one point, it seemed like a long shot, but now former Wisconsin Badgers guard Nick Boyd is a potential NBA draft pick.

At 6-foot-3, 177 pounds, the only major thing that is working against Boyd is his age. The 25-year-old is the oldest player hoping to hear his name called in June, but that's not something he was willing to let hold him back.

"I have gotten better every single year," Boyd told 247Sports' Jeremy Werner at the NBA draft combine. "I have improved, my work ethic is undeniable, I am in the gym sun up to sun down every single day. This is what I love to do, and I want to impact the world playing basketball."

No doubt, Boyd stepped up his game every season and did so with an increased level of competition. Remember, Boyd averaged just 5.1 points per game and didn't make a single start during his freshman season at FAU.

The New York native spent three years with the Owls before he transferred to San Diego State. There, Boyd averaged a career high 29.8 minutes per game (six more than his previous season), started all 31 games, and averaged double digits (13.4 points) for the first time in his career.

"I always believed," Boyd added. "You know, I told people I would be an NBA player, and people looked at me sideways, or looked at me crazy."

The fifth-year senior then made 35 starts in Madison, where he averaged career highs in minutes (31.9), field goal percentage (48%), assists (4.3), and points (20.7).

Boyd discussed his senior year with Greg Gard, "I think it just put me in a national light. You know, Big Ten, probably the best basketball conference this year. And, having the year that I did, with my teammates and coaches and it was special. They put me in the position that I am now, with that spotlight, and putting the ball in my hands."

Recently, Boyd has been the No. 60 overall projected draft pick, which is right at the cutting line. ESPN has increased his draft stock, but his ranking is still outside that top 60 mark, so it'll be a true mystery as to whether or not he's drafted around this time next month.
