The future of LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers is one of the hottest topics in basketball, but if the newest LA athlete has his way, King James isn’t going anywhere.
Myles Garrett, who was traded to the LA Rams on Monday, indicated during his introductory press conference that he and many others would be happy to see James remain in Southern California.

“We’ll see how long LBJ is around here,” Garrett said with a smile, as reported by Michael Duarte of the California Post. “I’m not sure what his future looks like, but if he wants to stay around for a couple more years, I know they’ll accept him with open arms.”
Garrett, a longtime Cleveland Brown, and James have multiple connections given James’ Ohio roots and Browns fandom.

James, who brought the Cleveland Cavaliers their first championship, has shouted out Garrett on social media, such as when Garrett set the single-season sack record earlier this year.
Garrett said James has supported him personally as well.
“He’s been a positive force in my life,” Garrett said. “Giving me advice when he can. Always helping trying to work through different situations early on in my career.”
NBA insiders say James, 41, is likely to play one more season.
He’s a free agent, though, and the Lakers have multiple players they need to re-sign this offseason.
If the Lakers are unable to re-sign James, popular potential destinations include his hometown Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors.
As for when we’ll find out, it will likely be a while.
James has said he doesn’t expect to announce a decision soon, and it’s possible the Lakers won’t know until late summer.
“I’m still in the moment of just taking my time,” James said on his “Mind the Game” podcast with Steve Nash. “I haven’t even really thought about it too much. Obviously, I understand that I’m a free agent and I can control my own destiny… but like, I haven’t even really got to that point. I haven’t even taken my family vacation yet, which is going to happen after Memorial Day. That’s kind of the thing at the forefront of my mind.”
“I think at some point in June, late June, as July rolls around, free agency starts to get going, and as July rolls around and maybe into August, we’ll start to kind of get a feel of what my future may look like,” James added.
