The Atlanta Falcons had just five selections in the 2025 NFL draft. While on one hand, you want as many as you can get, those picks cost money and the Falcons don't have much at the moment. Last weekend's draft was the first time the team has picked outside of the top 10 under general manager Terry Fontenot.
Many believe the Falcons landed a top-10 talent in Georgia linebacker Jalon Walker, but he won't cost top-10 money because he dropped to pick No. 15. Atlanta also moved up to pick No. 26 to select Tennessee's James Pearce Jr.
So, what is the projected cap hit in 2025 for each of the team's five rookies?
These projections are essentially locked in due to the predetermined value of each draft slot. Obviously, the higher the pick, the higher the cap hit. The Falcons currently have around $9.7 million in salary cap space, which should be just enough to cover their five-player draft class.
However, the team should still look to shed some cap space before the season starts in order to have a little breathing room. It would be easier without Kirk Cousins' contract clogging things up, but there's nothing the Falcons can do about that, barring another team agreeing pay some portion of his salary.
