How much will Atlético Madrid demand for Barcelona target Julián Alvarez?
An insight into the kind of fee set be demanded be Atlético Madrid to part with Julián Alvarez this summer has come to the fore online.
This comes amid confirmation of the Rojiblancos preparing to demand a record sum for their star frontman.
The name of goalscorer Alvarez is of course expected to take its place centre stage in the headlines across Spain this summer.
The Argentine international sits top of the transfer wishlist at Barcelona, amid an ongoing search for a replacement for the departing Robert Lewandowski.
The board at the Metropolitano, however, have no intention of making a deal easy to come by for their Camp Nou counterparts.
As per a report from transfer journalist Ben Jacobs, in fact:
‘Atlético will fight to keep Alvarez, and value him higher than the £104m that saw Antoine Griezmann leave for Barcelona in 2019.’
It now remains to be seen if cash-strapped Barca can find a way to scrape together such a significant sum of money.
