The Ravens took steps to acquire Maxx Crosby on Friday, and the trade won't prevent the organization from staying under the salary cap in 2026. Baltimore parted ways with the No. 14 overall pick in April's NFL draft and its first-round pick in 2027. Crosby signed a three-year, $109.5 million extension last March that made him the highest-paid pass rusher in the league.

According to Over The Cap, the Ravens will take on what is technically a $35.5 million-per-year contract, but the cost will be far below that for the Ravens. The four-year average value of the contract for Baltimore is just $29.126 million, which would be 8th at the position in the NFL, and the Ravens will need to create about $10 million more in cap room to actually execute this trade.

According to Spotrac, there are components that'll allow the cap hit to drastically decrease.

If it comes to a head, a team acquiring ED Maxx Crosby will be able to process a simple salary conversion on his contract that will drop his acquired cap hit from $30.7M, down to $7.73M.

The pass rusher underwent a minor meniscus repair and will have a few months of rehab. Crosby has earned five consecutive Pro Bowl nods and 69.5 career sacks. Crosby, who has had double-digit sacks in three of his last four years and is coming off a career-high 28 tackles for loss in 2025, could command multiple first-round picks.
