CORALVILLE — The Bradley Braves women's basketball team was eliminated from the 2026 Missouri Valley Conference Tournament on Friday in the quarterfinal round.
Bradley, the No. 5 seed, had a bye on Thursday night, then took No. 4 seed Northern Iowa to the wire on Friday but came up short, 74-73, at Xtream Arena in the debut of the conference tournament at its new location.
UNI put together a 13-2 run over 4:43 in the first quarter to build a big lead while Bradley shot 1 of 10 from the field.
The Braves trailed by as much at 17 in the third quarter, rallied to get within four on a 3-pointer from Tamia Perryman with 5:43 left in the fourth, and closed to within 62-61 with 3:56 left on a jumper from guard Mya Wardle.
UNI bounced off the ropes to build a seven-point lead with 2:10 left. But Bradley again nearly took the game away when star guard Kaylen Nelson hit a 3-pointer with 1:06 left to close within 68-64, and then was twice fouled on 3-point attempts in the final seconds.
Those fouls came at 28 seconds and 15 seconds remaining, respectively, and Nelson made all six free throws to give the Braves a chance, down 72-70.
UNI escaped with a pair of free throws with 5.9 seconds left, and Perryman hit a 3-pointer with 2 seconds left to lock in the one-point final.
Nelson, a 5-foot-10 senior guard, averaged 17.7 points this season, which ranked 60th in the NCAA. She shot 39.5% from 3-point distance, which ranked 49th in the nation. And her 88 made 3-pointers tied for 19th in the country through Friday night.
When the game ended, Nelson was embraced by UNI head coach Tanya Warren, who is in her 19th season at the Panthers helm.
Nelson led all players with 30 points, and made four 3-pointers while going 12 of 12 from the free-throw line. She added 11 rebounds for a double-double.
Tamia Perryman added 18, including four 3-pointers, and Amy O'Hara had 8 rebounds.
UNI got 25 points from Jenna Twedt, while Ryley Goebel added 16 and Elise Jaeger had 9 rebounds.
Bradley made 10 3-pointers, but shot 35% from the field and was out-scored 26-14 in the paint.

The Braves slipped to 20-12 with their second straight one-point loss. They'll find out on Selection Sunday if they can catch an invite to the women's NIT.
No. 10 seed Evansville (7-24) upset No. 2 Belmont (20-11) in the quarterfinals Friday. No. 1 Murray State put 105 points up in a win over Indiana State. Drake was set to face Illinois State late Friday.
