Jul. 5—MISSOULA — Kingston Liniak hit a three-run homer during a five-run first inning as the Glacier Range Riders bested Missoula 9-6 in game one of a three-game series at Ogren Park.
TJ Clarkson doubled to open the scoring in the first for Glacier (14-26), bringing home Gabe Howell. After Liniak hit his seventh homer of the season, Kyle Ashworth capped off the inning with an RBI double to right, scoring Jack Lynch.
Ashworth made it 7-1 with a two-run single in the fourth before Missoula (29-11) started to work their way back into the game.
Nich Klemp hit a two-run blast for the hosts in the bottom of the fourth, then A Sanchez made it 7-4 with an RBI single later in the frame.
Colin Gordon closed the Paddleheads deficit to 7-5 with a solo homer in the sixth. C Wilkerson made it a one-run game with a double later in the inning.
Howell and Angel Mendoza added a pair of insurance runs in the eighth and ninth as the Range Riders ended a three-game losing skid.
Ty Bothwell gets the win for Glacier, he went 5 2-3 innings allowing six runs on nine hits. The league leader in strikeouts fanned three. Rayne Supple threw two no-hit innings to close out the game.
Missoula starter Ryan Wentz sat down nine batters in five innings of work. He allowed seven runs on seven hits.

Cooper Hext hit his ninth home run of the season and the Yuba-Sutter High Wheelers completed a three-game sweep of the Glacier Range Riders at Glacier Bank Park.
Hext's two-run blast in the fourth grew Yuba-Sutter's lead to 5-1 in the fourth inning. Gio Brusa homered earlier in the inning for his eighth of the year.
The High Wheelers did their damage early, putting up six runs in the first five innings of the game, while Glacier left it late for a comeback attempt.
A pair of sacrifice flies in the sixth and seventh cut the Yuba-Sutter advantage to 6-3.
In the ninth, Kyle Ashworth singled and brought home Jack Lynch to make it 6-4 with no outs and runners on the corners. Gabe Howell and Logan Beard struck out before TJ Clarkson popped out to left field to end the game.
On the mound, Glacier got four innings out of starter Jared Engman, who allowed five runs on six hits. He fanned three.
Brett Wozniak started and went six innings for the High Wheelers, giving up two runs on three hits. He struck out five.
