Congratulations to Floyd Central's Adeline Shultz on being voted Player of the Week for May 4-9! The Arizona State commit helped secure two wins on the week, pitching a six-inning shutout with seven strikeouts, one walk and only one hit allowed in an 11-0 win over Brownstown Central and eight strikeouts and one hit allowed in 4.1 innings pitched vs. Ballard (Ky.). Schultz also collected four hits (two homers), four RBIs and two runs.
Here were the top performers from the past week.
After setting the school’s single-season steals record the week before, Arnett swiped three more bags to push her running total to 29. She also collected eight hits, seven runs and five RBIs across four games.
Bussard struck out 33 as she went 2-1 in the circle. She also broke the school’s all-time hits record with 126 and counting over the weekend as she collected five hits (including a homer) vs. Fairfield and another homer vs. Rochester.
The freshman put on a show this week, totaling 10 hits, including four doubles. She drove in three RBIs and scored five runs for the Woodmen, who finished the week 2-3 with wins over Edinburgh and Tri-West, and losses to Franklin (2) and Triton Central.
Fisher had one hit on the week, but it couldn’t have come at a better time. The senior launched a two-run eighth-inning homer to lift the Arabians to a 3-2 win over New Palestine, their first in the series since 2023 and second since 2015 (1-10).
Garringer smacked a walk-off, two-strike triple in the eighth inning to lift Penn to a 2-1 win over previously unbeaten Fort Wayne Carroll. She also doubled and scored three runs across two games vs. New Prairie.
The junior Michigan commit spun a perfect game against West Lafayette, striking out 15 of the 21 batters she faced across seven innings. George also pitched three scoreless inning with seven strikeouts vs. Rossville and five scoreless with 12 strikeouts against Tippecanoe Valley.
Hester doubled twice and scored three runs as part of a 3-for-4 performance vs. Lebanon, then notched hits against both Avon and Lafayette Jefferson. She’s batting .372 on the year.
The sophomore pitched 13 innings and picked up three wins, including a 7-3 decision over Crown Point, wherein she allowed a single unearned run on five hits with three strikeouts. Hunt allowed only one unearned run on nine hits for the week with nine strikeouts.
The junior racked up six hits and four RBIs in a critical conference sweep of Hamilton Heights, then roped an RBI double vs. Northwestern and a couple hits and three RBIs vs. Twin Lakes. Kitchel is batting .439 on the year.
Moore was a perfect 10-for-10 at the dish. She had a triple, a homer, four runs, four RBIs and five steals against Lebanon; a double, a triple, three runs, two RBIs and a steal vs. Covenant Christian, and a double, two runs, two RBIs and two steals vs. Trinity Lutheran. She also broke the single-season triples record with seven.
The senior Toledo launched her 10th homer of the season in a 6-0 win over Lawrence Central to surpass Morganne Denny as the program’s all-time home runs leader with 36. Riall, who had four RBIs and two runs on the week, has 25 homers over the past two seasons.
The sophomore notched a double, a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored in five-run win over Shelbyville, then helped punch the Braves’ ticket to the Johnson County championship game, going 2-for-3 with a couple runs vs. Franklin and 2-for-4 with a double and two runs vs. Center Grove.
Starr hit for the cycle in the Marion County championship game vs. Roncalli, collecting two RBIs and four runs scored as part of the 4-for-4 performance. She also homered vs. Brownsburg and clocked three hits in a 14-2 win over Lutheran. Starr finished the week with nine hits, five RBIs and two homers.
Stwalley batted .714 with a double, a home run and five RBIs in an 18-1 win over Eminence. The freshman is hitting .422 on the season.
Swank struck out 16 in a six-inning win over West Noble, 19 in a 5-1 win over Angola and 13 in a 4-3 loss to Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger. In amassing those strikeouts, she broke her own single-season strikeout record with 257 and counting. Swank also collected seven hits (one homer), five runs and three RBIs on the week.
