Los Angeles Dodgers utility player **** Hernandez’s injury is worse than initially reported, as he is set to miss a significant amount of time.

Hernandez left Tuesday’s game against the Colorado Rockies in the middle of the game after running to second base, and the inning ended.

Manager Dave Roberts was seen consoling Hernandez in the dugout before the player went to the locker room, where he shared his devastation over the injury.

“Yeah, I mean, frustrating to say the least,” Hernandez said. “Not just because I missed time, but me coming back got somebody off the roster. Those types of things. I was only able to give the team four at-bats. Yeah, tough. I feel pretty defeated right now. Hopefully, we get somewhat good news tomorrow.”

Hernandez was set to undergo an MRI of his oblique on Wednesday, and before the Dodgers’ final game against the Rockies, Roberts shared that it was a “significant” tear.

For context on how serious the injury is, Mookie Betts missed five weeks with an oblique strain.

“It’s a bummer,” Roberts said. “He’s missed a lot of time and worked hard to get back, was in great shape, added that spark that we had hoped. … I just feel bad for him because he wanted to be back with us and worked hard.”

The Dodgers will miss **** Hernandez

Hernandez, while not being known for his regular-season bat, was hitting the ball better than ever during his return, going 4-for-4 over his first two games with two doubles and a home run.

His offense and energy on the field will be missed, but even more than his production, Hernandez is a player who makes everyone on the team laugh and take things lightly.

With a 162-game season with multiple trips, a season can be very taxing, and Hernandez has been celebrated for making the time over the regular season easier on the roster.

The Dodgers, who have been hit with injury after injury to start the year, have been here before with Hernandez, and their organizational depth will provide plenty of cover until he is ready.
