The Baylor Bears landed one of Shreveport’s all-time best young basketball players Saturday afternoon when Calvary point guard Tyrone “TJ” Jamison Jr. committed on national television inside the Calvary Baptist sanctuary.
The 2026 Shreveport Times All-City Player of the Year picked the Bears after narrowing his choices to Baylor and Oklahoma. He also had LSU, USC and Iowa in his final grouping. The signing event was on the stage in the sanctuary with several hundred friends and family gathered to watch him make his announcement on CBS Sports.
“They have a winning tradition, and I liked that it was the right fit for me,” Jamison said after he exited the stage. “I can’t wait to get down there and get started.”
As a junior at Calvary, the 6-foot-1, 165-pound 4-star Jamison averaged 21 points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals in leading the Cavaliers to the LHSAA Select Division III championship game.

If Jamison continues to progress as a collegiate player, he could join Stromile Swift, Robert Williams III and Robert Parish as one of the top basketball players the area has produced. He still has another season at Calvary and he’s eager to close out his Cavalier career with a state championship under coach Vic Morris.
“That’s what we’re planning for,” he said.
