RUSK, Texas (KETK) — In Saturday’s all-East Texas battle of the Bulldogs, Groveton Centerville beat Union Hill 6-1 in the 1A regional final one-game playoff as the Bulldogs from deep East Texas punched their ticket to the 1A state semifinals.
Groveton Centerville’s Kolt Larsen and Union Hill’s EJ Mowery were dominant on the mound for much of Saturday’s game, but Groveton Centerville finally broke through for six runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take control of the game.
With the win, Groveton Centerville (26-1) moves on to face Fayetteville in the 1A state semifinals.
Union Hill (17-10) ends a great playoff run in the 1A regional finals.
