The Giants enter the 2025 NFL Draft with the third overall pick.
After a 3-14 season, how will New York use its first-round selection?
Here's what the experts have the Giants doing...
Chad Reuter, NFL.com
Yes, the Giants already employ pass rushers Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux (who, it should be noted, missed five games in 2024) -- but Carter would be quite the fill-in for Azeez Ojulari after Ojulari's departure via free agency. Carter also has the versatility to play off the ball if the team wants to get him on the field more regularly.

Like Cleveland, the Giants are looking for the “right” quarterback — but with Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston on the roster, they also don’t need to force anything. Pass rusher might not be a screaming need, but you draft players not positions in the top three, and Carter is a true impact player.
Tom Fornelli, CBS Sports
This pick makes little sense to me, but it also seems likely. The Giants have invested too much time and energy into Sanders this offseason for it to be some kind of head fake. That said, it's a GM/coach combo that needs to win now and has already added Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, so drafting a rookie QB goes against that.

New York could take a quarterback here despite having a trio of veterans on the roster. The team is hosting Shedeur Sanders for a private workout this week, but knowing the Giants' ownership and front office, I'm not sure they'll want to subject themselves to everything that comes with the polarizing prospect out of Colorado. Thus, Sanders' college teammate is the pick. Hunter was a two-way star at Colorado, but I think the reigning Heisman Trophy winner would add more value on offense as a complement to Malik Nabers. That said, he could also play spot duty on the back end of Shane Bowen's defense.

The Giants foolishly won their way out of a quarterback, but perhaps that just means that they’ll tank for Arch Manning, as seen in my 2026 NFL Mock Draft. Then again, it’s sounding like the Browns and Giants will pass on Shedeur Sanders, though things could change. As of now, the Giants will likely draft the best player available.
Abdul Carter has been described as a missile as a pass rusher.
*** OTHER 2025 NFL DRAFT POSSIBILITIES: ***
1. Travis Hunter, CB – If the second pick is Carter, this selection will be Travis Hunter, and vice versa.

If the Giants don't want to take a QB here, and Hunter is off the board, I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to trade back. If they don't get a worthwhile offer, though, I don't think the presence of Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux would prevent them from taking one of the few truly elite prospects in this class, adding another dominant pass rusher in Carter.

I’m sure the Giants would prefer it if Hunter was available. They would even prefer the option to trade back, as they don't need Carter with their current defensive line. But, Carter is the highest-graded player left on the board, and you can never have enough elite pass rushers. So the Giants will add Carter with the third pick.
