July is here, and we're a step closer to the start of the 2026 Kentucky Wildcats football season. We're now 66 days away from their first game, and as we go, we're also getting to know the roster. Today, we're taking a closer look at No. 66, Tino Merlo.
Merlo is listed at 6'2", and 278 lbs. He's an offensive lineman out of Youngstown, Ohio who was a multi-sports athlete in high school. He had an offer from his hometown team, but elected to walk-on at Kentucky instead.
He hasn't seen any in-game action so far, but he continues to practice with the team in case he's ever needed. In each of the last two seasons, he has been on the dean's list as well, showing his academic prowess to go along with his athletic ability.
The 2026 season will be his senior year marking four years in Lexington for Merlo. He is a terrific teammate, and his final season with the Wildcats is sure to be a special one. Maybe he'll get a chance to appear in a game to complete his college football career, and he's sure to be successful once he leaves school.
