Georgia's suffered its first significant loss in the transfer portal on Tuesday. Star DB Joenel Aguero is hitting the portal, according to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports. Aguero has one more year of eligibility left.

Aguero has been one of Georgia's most consistent starters in the past two seasons. In 2023, he played in all 12 games, but he had seven tackles. However, Aguero won the starting job in 2024 after a few standout games, especially against Mississippi State, when he had four tackles, three solo stops, and two pressures.

Starting 2025, Aguero was the starting star cornerback, starting in 12 of the Bulldogs' 14 games. He had 39 tackles, two passes deflected, and one interception. Unfortunately, he suffered a wrist injury that took him out of the 2025 SEC championship against Alabama and the Sugar Bowl loss at Ole Miss.

Freshman Rasean Dinkins took over for the injured Aguero, and he performed well in those two games, so Aguero entering the transfer portal gives Dinkins the head start as the star corner of the Bulldogs.

Outside of Aguero, three defensive backs (Ondre Evans, Daniel and Jaden Harris) have entered the transfer portal, and Jaden Harris has already committed to Kansas. Georgia's also seen running back Roderick Robinson, defensive tackle Jordan Thomas (committed to South Carolina), linebacker Kris Jones, and offensive tackle Bo Hughley, although none of them started as many games as Aguero.
