The Georgia Bulldogs added East Carolina Pirates transfer safety Ja'Marley Riddle this offseason. Riddle was a first-team All-American Athletic Conference (AAC) pick in 2025. Riddle led ECU with three interceptions and 70 tackles in 2025.
Georgia has high hopes for Riddle, who will likely compete for a starting role. However, Riddle is not completely healthy, so he is not getting as much action in spring practice as he would ideally get.
"Ja'Marley's (Riddle) not been able to do much," Georgia coach Kirby Smart said. "He's still coming off a significant injury. He's doing our walkthroughs. He's mentally in our reps. We've got him mic'd up and making calls and basically playing the game without playing the game, but he hasn't been able to physically do a lot."
Smart did not specify exactly what Riddle's injury is, but it sounds like Riddle's availability for the spring game is in doubt at the very least. Riddle's absence means that Georgia will have more reps for Clemson transfer Khalil Barnes and other safeties. The safety room is also without Kyron Jones, who was been out of action for several months now.
