Georgia running back Dante Dowdell is being treated in Atlanta for injuries he suffered in an ATV accident, according to a report from ESPN on Tuesday.
Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart confirmed the incident at SEC media days, though further details are not yet known.
"He's injured," Smart said at SEC Media Days. "We don't know when his return will be. I don't know the specifics of it, to be honest with you. It was a recreational vehicle, and he had some serious injuries."
Dowdell, a journeyman transfer who spent the 2025 season at Kentucky, was expected to play a major role in Georgia's running back rotation behind star Nate Frazier. He had 560 yards and three touchdowns with the Wildcats last year after totaling a career-best 614 yards and 12 touchdowns at Nebraska the prior season.
He also previously played at Oregon in the 2023 season.
