A post-draft report just dropped a bombshell of "what-if" news — the Cowboys were in potential trade talks with the Steelers regarding George Pickens.

Pre-draft, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones stated that Dallas was interested in making "substantive trades" to acquire some top-tier talent — and a new post-draft report from insider Todd Archer may have shed light on who exactly Jones was referring to:

"Leading up to the draft, the Cowboys had discussions with an AFC North team regarding a veteran wide receiver, but nothing came to fruition, according to multiple sources."

While Archer is purposefully vague, process of elimination works wonders here.

The Bengals are clearly out, as Tee Higgins was recently extended. Rashod Bateman of the Ravens could work, but there have been few reports linking him as a trade candidate. The only receiver of interest on the Browns might be Jerry Jeudy, but he also signed a contract extension in March and hasn’t been the subject of any trade rumors.

That leaves us with Pickens and the Steelers, who have been consistently linked to trade speculation throughout this offseason.

It’s probably for the best that Pickens will remain a Steeler — at least for the 2025 season — as his pairing with DK Metcalf will be dangerous for defenses to handle, regardless of who’s under center.
