Garrett Crochet, Aroldis Chapman Set To Make Spring Training Debuts originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Boston Red Sox will roll out the big guns for their matchup with the Tampa Bay Rays at JetBlue Park.
Garrett Crochet and Aroldis Chapman will both take the mound on Thursday. It’ll be an interesting one for the pitching staff, with the debuting duo expected to be joined by Payton Tolle, Greg Weissert and Jovani Moran out of the bullpen — marking the rookie’s first appearance out of the bullpen during spring training.
Caleb Durbin will make his debut at second base, giving him an opportunity to work on the double-play combination with Trevor Story and Willson Contreras.
Nate Eaton (Great Britain), Moran (Puerto Rico), Weissert (Italy) and Contreras (Venezuela) continue to prepare for the World Baseball Classic, with all scheduled to depart for the international tournament on Sunday.
