It’s time for postseason basketball! Your Washington State Cougars, the eight seed in the WCC tournament, will begin play tonight against the Portland Pilots in the second round.
WSU saw Portland twice in the regular season. They led off conference play at Portland, securing a 67-62 win, their lone road win against a Division 1 opponent of the season. They completed the season sweep on January 31st with a dominant 104-74 win.
The Pilots went 13-18 in the regular season and 6-12 in conference. Their most notable win came early in February when they knocked off the Gonzaga Bulldogs 87-80. They defeated the Pepperdine Waves last night 77-68. Jermane Ballisager Webb led the way with 22 points and James O’Donnell tacked on an efficient 16 points of his own.
The winner of this game will move on to play the five-seed San Francisco Dons tomorrow.
Tipoff is at 6p.m. PST at the Orleans Arena in Nevada and can be watched on ESPN+.
