FAIRBURN, Georgia, Dec. 5 — The SN NEXT No. 18 Gainesville [GA] Red Elephants will hit the road Friday night to face the SN NEXT No. 3 Langston Hughes [Fairburn, GA] Panthers in Georgia's GHSA Class 5A quarterfinals.

The game was originally scheduled for last Friday night after Gainesville filed for an injunction to restore the eligibility of 35 players that were suspended due to a brawl in their previous game against the Brunswick [GA] Pirates. The GHSA then appealed that ruling to Georgia's Court of Appeals, but with no decision, yet, in that case and a tight playoff window with the state championship dates fast approaching, the governing body relented, allowing the game to be played Friday night.

The winner will advance to meet the Rome [GA] Wolves next Thursday, December 11, in another game that was pushed back to the delays.

The game between Gainesville and Langston Hughes will kick off at 7 p.m. EST local.

GAINESVILLE 6, LANGSTON HUGHES 0

Gainesville comes up with the game's first big play, forcing a Langston Hughes fumble at its own 35. Then on Gainesville's first offensive play, they strike with Kharim Hughley finding Legend Wilmont on a long pass play. The PAT is no good, but the Red Herd has the early lead on the road.
