Tomorrow night there will be two reasons for you to show up at Memorial Stadium.
First, is the second annual Battle in the Boneyard 7-on-7 competition in which 16 of the nation’s top 7-on-7 teams will be competing. The event is sponsored by Adidas as the first 500 people to show up will get free t-shirt. The actual event starts at 7 p.m. but the free parking lots open at 3 p.m.
The tickets are free and you can get yours here.
They are hoping for 10-15k fans to show up. The more the better as always. There will be at least eight official visitors there this weekend so the fans can help show those recruits how we support the program.
So a free event. Free shirts. Concessions. Football. Sounds good to me. Oh and there is apparently one more reason to go.
There is going to be an announcement of some type that Matt Rhule and the program is going to make. Even Sean Callahan has said that there has been no leak on the announcement but “definitely get the feel this is going to be fairly significant.”
I am intrigued to hear what that announcement could be. They are calling it “Red Sea Rising.” I wonder if it is related to the reconstruction of Memorial Stadium. Or are they going to announce that they plan on winning nine games in 2026? That would be pretty sweet.

Ranking the Big Ten: Kicker
As the 2026 college football season quickly approaches, it is time to look at the top players at each position in the Big Ten.
We continue our annual Ranking the Big Ten series today with the kickers. Clutchness, consistency, and big legs make this year’s group as talented as ever.
Second version of ‘Battle of the Boneyard’ has potential to elevate with help from Husker fans
Nebraska was first among college programs to serve as a home base for a 7-on-7 tournament a year ago.
And while understanding there would be others that would immediately try to copycat it, as Andrew Ivins of 247Sports wrote last June, “7-on-7 coaches are already putting the showcase on their calendars for next year.”
Indeed, as we’re documenting on Husker247 in the days leading up to Saturday, some elite 7-on-7 teams are expected in town.
Battle of the Boneyard is back: 24K squad full of talented ’28 prospects
Among the 7-on-7 teams expected in town this Saturday for the Battle of the Boneyard is a 24K squad full of top 2028 prospects from across the country.
It’s a team based out of Orlando with a top-rated 2028 QB and plenty of other highly regarded recruits, including some with Husker offers.
James Dolan: Won’t go into second apron to keep Knicks intact
New York Knicks owner James Dolan said Wednesday he will not go into the punitive second apron to keep his team together for the 2026-27 season, even after it won its first NBA title in 53 years.
“We cannot go into the second apron,” Dolan said on WFAN radio in New York.
If any team surpasses that threshold, it is limited in what it can do in free agency and other roster-building mechanisms. Only the Cleveland Cavaliers exceeded the threshold this past season.
