Fort LeBoeuf's boys track and field team persevered against heavy fog and chilly drizzle, plus 15 other programs, to finish first by the end of Saturday's Harbor Creek Invitational.
Most of the meet was conducted amid overcast conditions in and around the Huskies' Paul J. Weitz Stadium. LeBoeuf, though, performed well enough to compile 99 team points.
The Bison defeated the second-place McDowell Trojans by 12.
Mason Friedman highlighted LeBoeuf's overall results. The junior's best attempt in the boys javelin was 142 feet, 7 inches.
Audrey Friedman, a LeBoeuf graduate and Mason's sister, was the PIAA's Class 2A girls javelin champion in 2022. She's currently competing in that same discipline for Penn State University.

Mercyhurst Prep placed fifth in the boys team standings. Most of its 60 points were courtesy of runner Vinny Feliciano and thrower Carson Mertz.
Feliciano swept Saturday's sprint finals. The sophomore, whose bursts of speed out of the backfield made him a star running back for the Lakers' 2024 football team, won the 100 final at 11.69 seconds and the 200 at 22.82.
Mercyhurst isn't known as a regular contender in field events.
Carson Mertz, though, altered that perception for at least one day. The senior won the meet's shot put competition with a toss of 51-9 and the discus at 143-5.
S.P.I.R.E. Academy's girls significantly rewrote the meet's record book during their first appearance. The Ohio program established four new standards amid its eight event victories.
S.P.I.R.E. topped the team standings with 122 points, followed by McDowell with 108.
Isabella Hebner and Charlotte Bollheimer were the Trojans' individual gold medalists. Hebner recorded the low time in the 1,600 race at 5:44.79 and Bollheimer the longest triple jump attempt at 32-7.
