Former Michigan State basketball standout, and local star, Jaden Akins is looking to carve a path into the NBA. After having a monstrous season with the Motor City Cruise, the NBA G-League affiliate of the Detroit Pistons, Akins has hooked up with the New York Knicks for summer league action.
With the Knicks in summer league, Akins is making his case for getting a real shot at the NBA level. On Thursday against the Golden State Warriors, it was a tremendous effort from the former Spartan, who shined on the stat sheet.
Akins scored 21 points in the contest, going 9-for-20 shooting, while going 3-for-8 from behind the three-point line. If performances like this continue, Akins might just play his way onto a roster next season.
