Former Purdue PG Braden Smith not considering return to college hoops

Braden Smith is one of the greatest pure point guards in college basketball history, and he could have added to his all-time leading assists record thanks to a recent court ruling that gives him another year of eligibility.

Smith was selected in the second round of the 2026 NBA draft by the Indiana Pacers and has not yet signed his NBA contract, but the door on his college career appears firmly shut despite a judge granting him and all players in a similar situation an extra year.

The guard's representatives told CBS Sports that their client is not considering returning to college basketball and is focused on his future with the Pacers in professional basketball.

The two-time All-American is the only player in NCAA history to score at least 1,500 points, record at least 1,000 assists and grab 500 rebounds.
