There are three days remaining in the transfer portal window for the 2026 cycle. With the portal closing on Friday night, players must have their names in the portal before it closes. However, players that are already in the portal can transfer to their new team after the Friday deadline, and schools can still sign players once the deadline has passed.
The Oklahoma Sooners have lost quite a few names to the portal already, but the exits halt on Saturday morning. OU has made some excellent additions, and they'll continue to do so, even after the portal closes. On Wednesday, they saw a former player with a lot of potential find his new portal home.
Former OU defensive back Jaydan Hardy has committed to play for the Colorado Buffaloes out of the transfer portal. Hardy spent two seasons in Norman, after arriving as part of the 2024 recruiting class. He was a sophomore for the Sooners in 2025, and he saw his role grow from what it was during his true freshman season.
Hardy had become a part of the rotation at safety for the Sooners, and he played in all 13 games this past season. He was expected to compete for one of the starting safety spots as a junior in 2026. Instead, he'll head to Big 12 country in Boulder with two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Hardy was one of a small handful of players on OU's 2025 roster that had entered the portal, but hadn't found a new home yet. Wide receivers Jakeb Snyder, Zion Kearney, and Ivan Carreon, and defensive lineman Siolaa Lolohea remain as the players in that category who have yet to commit to their new team.
The Sooners are still in good hands at the safety position, even with Hardy choosing to transfer, and Robert Spears-Jennings exhausting his collegiate eligibility. Peyton Bowen and Michael Boganowski are the expected starters at safety now, and Omarion Robinson will have a much larger role in 2026.
