Former Lady Vols basketball guard Avery Strickland committed to Belmont out of the transfer portal.
Strickland spent two seasons at Tennessee after playing her freshman season at Pittsburgh. The Knoxville native had a limited role the last two seasons, but started earning more minutes towards the end of coach Kim Caldwell's first season.
She entered the transfer portal as a graduate transfer on April 3. She has one year of eligibility left to play for Belmont, which finished third in the Missouri Valley Conference during the 2024-25 season.
Strickland is one of two Lady Vols to enter the transfer portal this offseason. Fifth-year senior Favor Ayodele also entered the transfer portal.
Strickland appeared in 39 games for the Lady Vols the last two seasons. She averaged 5.8 minutes 1.9 points and 1.3 rebounds and shot 43.8% from the field this season.
Strickland led the Farragut girls basketball team to its first state tournament and state championship appearances in program history. The Admirals finished as runners-up to rival Bearden. She was a standout athlete in three sports at Farragut, winning a softball state championship as a junior and then becoming a state medalist in track as a senior.
