Former Florida edge rusher Tyreak Sapp met with teams at the 2026 NFL combine and participated in on-field drills Thursday.
Sapp's 5.86 prospect grade ranks 30th at his position, but his NFL NextGen Stats score breakdown paints a prettier picture. His production score of 66 ranks 25th, and his athletics score ranks 70 ranks 12th. Combining the two gives Sapp a total score of 67, which ranks 21st overall.
Mel Kiper's most recent big board update has Sapp just outside the top 10 among defensive ends. He's the first name listed in the "just missed" section and is a projected mid-to-late-round pick.
Known as a team leader and charismatic personality, Sapp was more likely to improve his draft stock in team meetings rather than on the field. He put up 28 reps on the bench press, the second most of the three edge defenders who participated.
Sapp met with the Detroit Lions, according to Crunch Time Sports, and spoke about his desire to play alongside one of the top ends in the NFL, Aidan Hutchinson.
"Man, I get excited, I get happy, just because that's somebody that I obviously watched in college coming up," Sapp said. "But, just how dangerous that would be, that would be nasty. Me and him out there rushing off the edge, wreaking havoc in people's backfields, getting after the quarterback and sacking the quarterback a plethora of times, that would be awesome.
"And then obviously playing for the Detroit Lions, which is a premier team in the National Football League, I would love to play for Detroit."
Banks did not participate in the 40-yard dash, vertical jump, broad jump, 3-cone drill, 20-yard shuttle or bench press.
