Caleb Downs’ injury rumors were put to rest
Ohio State safety Caleb Downs was hit with very serious injury rumors after the NFL Scouting Combine, when Cory Kinnan from Daft on Draft stated that Downs was flagged with a partially torn meniscus and a “potentially degenerative ACL”.
Those rumors went viral, of course, and the post on his Substack with the claims has since been deleted.
[T]he Downs family is calling the false reports “fake” and “clickbait” and that there were no medical concerns at all.
He also spoke to several teams who said the reports were “BS”, and that his “medicals came back relatively clean”, and “Downs’ medicals were not a concern on their radar”. This should put the false rumors to rest, and Pat McAfee even addressed it on his show and said he’s heard the same thing as Little.
We reached out to multiple NFL teams about Caleb Downs this morning..
They told us that there is NOTHING in the medical that would deter them from brining him in #PMSLivepic.twitter.com/4TSopny8aU

Commanders Roundtable
Washington Commanders extend three defensive linemen
The Washington Commanders agreed to a contract extension with a pair of players on Wednesday afternoon in defensive tackle Shy Tuttle and defensive end Deatrich Wise Jr. Both have agreed to one year extensions, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. Defensive end Drake Jackson became the third defensive lineman to agree to an extension.
Wise, Jackson and Tuttle become the fourth, fifth and sixth players to agree to an extension with the Commanders this offseason alongside punter Tress Way and offensive linemen Nick Allegretti and Andrew Wylie.

Justin Strnad, Denver Broncos
Strnad has never been a full-time starter in his career, but that might change with a new team. It seems like he’s started to gain his footing as a pass-rusher with 7.5 sacks over the last two seasons. We’ll see what his market is, but he could be a player with several productive years in front of him.

The Case for Riq Woolen: Why Commanders Should Target Seattle’s Elite CB
In 2024, Woolen finished with 3 interceptions and 14 passes defensed — tied for 10th in the entire NFL. His 2022 rookie season remains one of the most jaw-dropping debuts in recent memory: six interceptions, tied for first in the league, making him the most prolific rookie ball-hawk since Marcus Peters turned in a similar haul in 2016. Those aren’t flukes — that’s a corner with elite closing speed and instincts.
Per ESPN analyst Aaron Schatz, Woolen ranked 12th in the NFL in coverage DVOA during the 2025 season, posting a mark of minus-27.4 percent — meaning opponents were significantly less efficient throwing in his direction than league average. That’s the kind of number that changes how opposing offensive coordinators call plays. Washington’s secondary desperately needs a corner who makes quarterbacks think twice before looking his way. Woolen is that guy.
Here’s what sets Woolen apart from every other corner on this free agent market: the combination of elite athleticism and rare length. At 6-4 and 210 pounds, he’s built more like a safety than a boundary corner, which is exactly what makes him a nightmare for both speedy and big-bodied receivers. The NFC East is loaded with those kind of playmakers. You have Malik Nabers, CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, A.J. Brown, & DeVonta Smith – all receivers who give corners fits both in the open field and in the red zone.
Woolen’s closing speed ranks among the best in the league — his 4.26 forty time at the 2022 combine was the fastest of any corner that year. That speed doesn’t leave when the pads go on. He’s a genuine deep-ball eraser, the type of corner who can trail a receiver down the seam and still arrive in time to break up the play. Washington’s secondary in 2025 had no one capable of doing that at a high level. Trey Amos is a promising young piece, but he’s 23 and coming off an injury. Mikey Sainristil struggled mightily. The Commanders need a veteran who can step in and start on Day 1.

Recently released Steelers TE Jonnu Smith could be perfect Commanders’ target
On Wednesday, the free-agency pool added another productive veteran tight end when the Pittsburgh Steelers released Jonnu Smith after one year with the franchise.
Smith, 30, adds another interesting name to the mix. The 6-foot-3, 248-pound Smith entered the NFL as a third-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.
In nine NFL seasons, Smith has 345 receptions for 3,529 receiving yards (10.2 yards per reception) and 30 touchdowns. With the Steelers last season, Smith split time with Pat Freiermuth, recording 38 receptions for just 222 yards and two touchdowns. It came one year after he tied a career-high with eight touchdowns for the Dolphins in 2024.

8 well-known free agents who could hugely impact the Commanders
Commanders could sign Kwity Paye
This will be a theme. The Commanders’ pass-rush was anemic and lacked any sort of legitimate threat last season, especially when Dorance Armstrong Jr.’s breakout came screeching to an abrupt halt through injury. More is needed, so fans are expecting Adam Peters to go on the offensive when the legal tampering window opens.
Peters needs to consult Daronte Jones to see which options could fit seamlessly into his schematic concepts, but Kwity Paye has the size, length, and run-setting ability that should provoke a conversation between those in power.
Commanders could sign Bryan Cook
Paying veteran safeties isn’t typically Peters’ approach. Letting Kamren Curl and Jeremy Chinn walk in consecutive offseasons is proof positive of that. However, there needs to be a shift in approach this time, and the Commanders could do far worse than to examine Bryan Cook’s credentials in greater detail.
Cook was once again one of the league’s premier safeties in 2025. The Kansas City Chiefs aren’t known for paying defensive backs, so there is a good chance he’ll be there for the taking.
Commanders could sign Jauan Jennings
Peters held an influential position in the Niners’ front office when the franchise spent a seventh-round pick on Jauan Jennings. The wideout’s steady rise into a valuable contributor could see him cash in when free agency hits, and San Francisco may not have the financial resources to match any offer.
Jennings has never had a 1,000-yard receiving season, and he’s renowned for goading the opposition to the brink of fury, but he’s a big-bodied receiver who offers something different to what Washington currently has. What Peters must decide is whether he’s worthy of the bumper payday coming his way.

NFL free agency: Chargers out of Linderbaum Sweepstakes, sign Tyler Biadasz
If the Giants want Tyler Linderbaum, one obstacle may have just been removed
The New York Giants’ odds of signing free agent center Tyler Linderbaum may have increased on Friday morning. That is thanks to news that the Los Angeles Chargers are signing free-agent center Tyler Biadasz.
Coached by John Harbaugh’s brother, Jim, the Chargers needed a center after the retirement of their starter, Bradley Bozeman. They were thought to be a primary suitor for Linderbaum, the top center expected to be on the open market next week when NFL free agency opens.
Instead, the Chargers are signing Biadasz, a six-year veteran who was cut recently by the Washington Commanders. Biadasz was a fourth-round pick by the Dallas Cowboys in 2020.
Linderbaum is expected to command a contract with an average annual value of $20 million or more, which would reset the center market.
The #Chargers make a splash before free agency, agreeing to terms with C Tyler Biadasz on a 3-year deal worth $30M, per The Insiders.
Biadasz was cut by the #Commanders after being set to make $8.3M. Now he lands in LA with a raise in a deal done by @AthletesFirst. pic.twitter.com/EBZs8M6YVl

What the DJ Moore trade means for the Eagles and A.J. Brown
On Thursday, the Bears traded WR D.J. Moore to the Bills, which essentially took Buffalo out of the running for Brown. The Bills gave up a second round pick to the Bears in exchange for Moore and a fifth-rounder, which will help support the Eagles asking for a first round pick for A.J. Brown.
The #Bears getting a 2nd-round pick (No. 60) for DJ Moore will make the #Eagles’ stance for a 1st in a package for A.J. Brown even stronger.
Buffalo also took on $40M in guarantees with DJ Moore's contract. Hefty price. https://t.co/1uuMqx12fM
— Ari Meirov (@MySportsUpdate) March 5, 2026
The Eagles need to figure out whether Brown is going to be in Philadelphia for the 2026 season sooner rather than later. The expectation is that Brown’s future is sorted out within the week — and thank goodness, if true, because the topic has been absolutely exhausted already this offseason.
The Bills are really desperate trying anything and everything to keep that window from slamming shut. I just dont get how you trade a 2 and take on $40M in guarantees for a 29 year old WR that has averaged 825 receiving yards over the last two years.

Eagles dynasty or downward spiral? Why 2026 is a crossroads season
t is difficult to keep a Super Bowl roster intact and, even when you can, the length of the season makes it more difficult to repeat a deep playoff run, even if most of the same pieces return from one year to the next.
The 2023 and ‘25 Eagles are perfect examples of this. Following their Super Bowl loss to the Chiefs after the 2022 season, the Birds returned most of their roster the following year. But the loss of key coaches, a shorter off-season and a disastrous in-season defensive coaching change led to a wild card round exit.
Last season, the Eagles suffered the effects of their run to Super Bowl 59. A battered and bruised offensive line that gritted its way to a championship didn’t get enough time to recuperate over the summer. Sapped of the motivation to win a title, A.J. Brown was off all year. The offensive coordinator hired to replace Kellen Moore was a disaster.
The Nick Sirianni era has had a pretty predictable pattern up to this point:
2021 — Wild Card loss
2022 — Super Bowl appearance (loss)
2023 — Wild Card loss
2024 — Super Bowl appearance (win)
2025 — Wild Card loss
But it isn’t as simple as the progression of a five-year pattern.
There are [many] questions on the offense. Will A.J. Brown be traded? If so, how will they fill out the receiver room? If not, will it be another season of headaches and underperformance? Will Saquon Barkley and O-line function more effectively in a new system? And most importantly, will Jalen Hurts buy into what first-time offensive coordinator Sean Mannion wants to do?
Mannion is coming to Philadelphia with new ideas and a new scheme. He has never called plays before. He has never been an offensive coordinator before. It would be understandable is there are growing pains as Hurts tries to learn a totally new way of running an offense. Or, if there is friction between Hurts and Mannion as the two men try to get on the same page. If Brown is traded away, it could take more than one off-season for Roseman to figure out how to replace his production. The offensive line may not be much healthier than it was a season ago. The defense may simply not be able to carry enough water to make up for another year of offensive futility.
Good teams need to figure out how to stay good. Most franchises go through cycles of success and failure, and the Eagles are no different.
Good, young, cheap players eventually become veteran, high priced players. General managers need to continue drafting well in order to supplement the roster with good, cheap talent. It’s the only way the window stays open.
The Eagles are at another crossroads.

Dallas seemingly out on Maxx Crosby with focus on free agency
Whether the Las Vegas Raiders would be receptive to trading Crosby remains to be seen. But if they do, the Cowboys are reportedly not willing to give up multiple first-round picks.
“On Maxx Crosby and the Cowboys being at play here,” NFL Network’s Jane Slater began via X. “Here is what I’m being told from a team source. ‘Raiders are talking to a lot of people. But we would not give up two first rounders.’ That’s the situation now. Will that change? I don’t know but I checked for those of you interested.”
Maybe there is a world where Dallas turns out to be the trade partner for Las Vegas. However, if their goal is to acquire two first-round picks, Slater says the Cowboys will not pay that kind of premium.
The report from Slater came before Trey Wingo said Dallas might be out of the Crosby sweepstakes. Trey Hendrickson is who he believes owner/general manager Jerry Jones will now make a run at.
Good pass rushers are now approaching 35-40M/AAV. Elite one are getting even more.
THIS is why you draft them in RD1. 5 seasons of relatively cheap control.

NY Giants news: Devin Singletary stays in New York on restructured contract
The New York Giants and running back Devin Singletary have agreed to a restructured contract, per a report from NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
The decision to keep Singletary, 28, comes as a surprise, as the veteran running back was thought to be an obvious cut candidate as the Giants work to create salary cap room in advance of the 2026 NFL free agency period.
Singletary was scheduled to carry a $6.5 million cap hit in 2026, including a $5 million base salary. It will be interesting to see how the Giants have reduced those numbers.
However, Schultz reports that the two sides didn’t want to part ways and that there seems to be a good relationship between Singletary and John Harbaugh.
Singletary lost his starting job twice over the last two years, first to Tyrone Tracy in 2024, and then to Cam Skattebo in 2025. And while Singletary is likely the Giants’ 3rd back, he’s a tough and versatile runner who can carry the ball between the tackles, contribute in the passing game, and execute the Giants’ full offensive playbook.
There have been rumors that the team is interested in veteran Kenneth Walker as well as top running back prospect Jeremiyah Love.
The decision to keep Singletary might not kill those rumors completely, but the team seems to be leaning toward a “running back by committee” approach. The move also coincides with the report from NFL Insider Ian Rapoport that the Giants’ decision makers are more interested in “tinkering” with the roster than undergoing a full overhaul.
Half of the league's teams have now committed to cutting at least one player, and over $300M in salary is poised to be shed.
And the teams are likely nowhere near close to being done… pic.twitter.com/dNbD9IXLXZ

Source: Rams re-signing Kam Curl to 3-year, $36M contract
The Los Angeles Rams are re-signing safety Kam Curl to a three-year, $36 million contract, a source confirmed to ESPN on Friday.
Curl, a seventh-round pick in 2020, has spent the past two seasons with the Rams after signing a two-year, $8.75 million deal in 2024. He was drafted by the Commanders and spent the first four seasons of his career in Washington.
Curl, 26, set career highs in total (122) and solo tackles (79) during the 2025 season. He had two interceptions during the regular season and one during the playoffs to help propel Los Angeles into the NFC Championship Game.
In overtime of a tie game in the divisional round, Curl intercepted Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams in Rams territory. The Rams kicked a game-winning field goal on the next drive.

Bears trading WR DJ Moore to Bills
The Bills are acquiring receiver DJ Moore and a 2026 fifth-round pick in a trade with the Chicago Bears in exchange for a 2026 second-round selection, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported on Thursday, per sources informed of the situation.
Moore not only brings a much-needed veteran producer to Buffalo, but he also has first-hand experience in Joe Brady’s system, having played under the new Bills head coach in Carolina, where Brady was the offensive coordinator for 19 games over 2020 and 2021 before being fired in early December of his second season.
This was already a bad trade for the Bills given Moore's contract as it was but throwing in 2028 fully guaranteed money just because is bizarre and makes the deal worse. https://t.co/u1y35JRh05

Bears will release LB Tremaine Edmunds
Edmunds, who turns 28 in May, had no guaranteed money left on his contract, and his release will save the team $15 million. The Bears had allowed Edmunds to seek a trade this offseason.
He has started 119 games and has made at least 100 tackles in each of his eight seasons, totaling 900 tackles in his career.
Edmunds made the Pro Bowl in 2019 and 2020.
Between the trade of DJ Moore, release of Tremaine Edmunds and retirement of Drew Dalman, the Bears have about $44M in new cap space as of this week.
Be it addressing C or fortifying the defense, Chicago has spending power.
